Frequently asked questions
What does each ticket tier include?
The Residence Museum ticket covers the ~130-room museum, the Antiquarium and royal apartments. Museum + Treasury adds the Schatzkammer of crowns and regalia. The top tier adds the Cuvilliés Theatre — the complete Residenz. Choose by how much you want to see.
Which ticket has the Treasury and the theatre?
The Treasury is included from the Museum + Treasury tier upward. The Cuvilliés Theatre is only in the top, all-inclusive tier. The museum-only ticket covers neither, so pick your tier by what you want to see before you book.
Is entry at a fixed time?
No — your ticket is valid for the whole day you choose, within opening hours, so you arrive when you like. It is not a fixed slot. Your print-at-home ticket lets you skip the cash-desk queue, which is the real time-saver in high season.
Is the museum guided?
The Residence Museum is self-guided at your own pace, with an audio guide included. That's why visit times vary — some move through in 90 minutes, others linger far longer. Allow extra time if you've added the Treasury or the theatre.
Do children pay, and who gets reduced entry?
Children and young people under 18 enter free — it's a free admission at the door, not a ticket you buy, so families only pay for adults. Reduced rates apply to eligible visitors such as EU seniors and disabled guests, with original valid proof shown on site.
Does the Cuvilliés Theatre keep the same hours?
Often not — the theatre frequently has shorter or different hours than the museum and can close on some holidays or when in use. If you book the top tier, check the theatre's hours for your date so you don't arrive to a closed door.
How and when will I get my ticket?
After you book, our team arranges your dated admission and emails your print-at-home ticket, usually well before your visit. You show it at the entrance on your chosen day. If we ever can't secure your date, we contact you and refund in full.
How long should I allow?
Around 1.5–2 hours for the museum, plus ~45 minutes for the Treasury and ~20–30 minutes for the theatre. Seeing everything is a comfortable half-day. Arrive well before last admission, especially with a combined ticket.
